The HEB ISD Fine Tuners: The HEB ISD Fine Tuners will perform
prior to Mariangela Vacatello. The
Viola Fine Tuners and the Cello Fine
Tuners will each be playing pieces

to a few pieces they will play together
from the Suzuki repertoire.
The HEBISD Fine Tuners groups are
instrument specific groups of violinists,
violists and cellists that have
grown up through the Suzuki in the
Schools program that was implemented
in HEB in 2001. Currently
there are seven elementary schools in
the district that offer Suzuki Strings instruction. Students in these programs
move on to secondary orchestra programs
offered at Central Junior High
and L.D. Bell High School.
The Fine Tuners began as an honor
group for members of the HEB Elementary
Honor Orchestra, kindergarten
through sixth grade, who were
ready for an additional challenge.
They rehearse for an extra hour each
Thursday and work on advanced
group skills and literature. As the program
evolved, the faculty opened enrollment
to students in all grade
levels, and the current Fine Tuners
roster includes members from 2nd
grade through 12th grade. Members
earn their place by audition each September.
